It has been a while since a nice national team league, has it not? WGTour obviously thought so too, because they just now announced their new event called World Cup! 39 teams from five different continents. This looks promising!
WGTour announced just earlier this night that their new big event is to be a league for the nations. The name is World Cup, where a total of 39 nations from five continents battle it off. Divided in six groups based on time zones, this should be a sweet looking tournament.
Germany, Poland, Canada and Mexico already invited
35 teams will go through the tough and long group stage, while four national teams have been given autoberth to the playoff including 16 teams. Those are Germany, Poland, Canada and Mexico. Why Mexico, you might ask. Dknight at WGTour explains that it was because of Mexico reaching very far in their Nation Wars ladder.
- It was given to Mexico for being the first team to hit the A rank, he says. Below are the groups for WGTour World Cup:
America Europe 1Europe 3 Netherlands Belgium Russia Hungary United Kingdom Austria Italy Portugal Greece Norway Spain Estonia Turkey Ukraine France Finland Croatia Lithuania |
The game format will be four 1on1 matches and one 2on2 match. The matches have a due til 8th of May, and WGTour will hopefully soon give out more information once Round 1 gets closer. GosuGamers will do our best in covering this event with results, bets, replays and interviews.
