The Last of Us Season 2 announces premiere date
HBO has officially announced a return date for The Last of Us. The post-apocalyptic zombie series will resume when Season 2 begins airing on 13 April, with new episodes airing weekly. This season will adapt the events of Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2, which features a time jump following the first game’s story and an expanded cast of characters.
Showrunner Craig Mazin will return to helm the series along with original game director Neil Druckmann, the latter of whom is also in the midst of directing a new game at Naughty Dog: Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsay, and Gabriel Luna will return to play Joel Miller, Ellie, and Joel’s brother Tommy, respectively.
Newcomers to the cast of Season 2 include Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), Dina (Isabela Merced), and Isaac Dixon (Jeffrey Wright), all of whom are featured heavily in The Last of Us Part 2. Notably, Wright reprises his role as Isaac for the series, having also played the character in the game. Young Mazino also stars as Jesse, while Catherine O’Hara plays an unknown role.
Season 2 of The Last of Us premieres on 13 April, 2025. This season will not fully adapt the events of the game it’s based on, however. The series will reportedly take up to four seasons to fully adapt Ellie’s story.
