CD Projekt Red has announced a surprise update for its sci-fi open-world game Cyberpunk 2077, seven months after the developer announced that it was ending development on the title. The 2.2 update boasts a few updates to in-game customisation and vehicles, along with “more secrets.”

Cyberpunk 2077 gets surprise 2.2 update with more character customisation options
CD Projekt Red has released a new update for Cyberpunk 2077, adding more content to the 2020 game despite already working on its sequel and a new Witcher game. This update isn’t quite as meaty as the game’s big Phantom Liberty expansion, but it does come with a host of new content additions fans will appreciate.
The big ticket item here is deeper character customisation. Players can now customise their V of choice with tons of new eye colours, lip makeup types, nail colours, cheek makeup types, eye makeup types, face scars, eyebrow shapes, face tattoos, body tattoos, and cosmetic face cyberware options. If you’d rather not dive into all that minutia however, the Character Creator randomiser now comes with a Plain-to-Punk slider, which allows the player to look as casual or edgy as they’d like.
Car customisation is also getting a tad deeper. Rayfield’s CrystalCoat tech has now been applied to a wider range of cars from multiple manufacturers, giving players access to more paint jobs for their vehicles. Additionally, a new feature called TWINTONE now allows players to clone the colour of various vehicles and apply them on their own cars or motorbikes. 10 highly-requested vehicles are also now available for purchase at the Autofixer.
Additionally, Johnny Silverhand fans will note that he can now occasionally pop up in the passenger seat with V, commenting on their actions in Act 2 onwards. Photo mode is getting a suite of improvements to allow players more precise shots, and a new feature also allows them to display these pictures in V’s homes.
This update also adds “more secrets to discover in Night City” on top of various quality-of-life improvements and bug fixes. Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.2 update is now live on all platforms.
