HoYoverse has outlined a few changes coming to Zenless Zone Zero in its 1.1 and 1.2 updates.
HoYoverse has announced a massive list of changes coming to Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) in its upcoming Version 1.1 and 1.2 patches, most of which are meant to address player feedback. Many of these changes will address criticisms over the game’s combat system by allowing players to toggle Chain Attacks, set specific team presets for missions, see enemy attribute resistances more easily and more.
On the exploration side of things, players will soon be able to manually change the time of day in-game and explore the city of New Eridu using their Agents.
What’s coming in ZZZ version 1.1
HoYoverse has shared what it calls “the first issue of the ‘Ridu Renovation Talk’” which appears to be a new series diving into upcoming changes coming to ZZZ. The series’ debut post focuses on the game’s versions 1.1 and 1.2 updates, which aim to address ongoing pain points players have called out in combat, the HDD TV mode and exploration.
The post is pretty lengthy (and worth reading on its own), but we’ll dive into the highlights here. First off, new story missions coming in Version 1.1 will allow players to “interact with New Eridu's neighborhoods” and engage in combat from the perspective of the mission’s protagonist. While the wording of this change is a little vague, it sounds like players might be able to control Agents as they explore the city in and out of combat during story events.
More importantly, players will soon be able to toggle a ‘Manual Chain Attack’ mode before entering combat, allowing them to avoid triggering other Agents’ Chain Attacks when stunning enemies. Even if they choose to leave Chain Attack on, they will be able to cancel Chain Attack Combos when they pop up.
Version 1.1 is also adding more combat missions and game modes, while also making enemy attribute resistances more visible in Shiyu Defense. Inter-Knot avatars of unlocked Agents can also be selected as the player’s official Inter-Knot avatar. Mobile platforms are getting much-needed customisable UI buttons, allowing mobile players to choose better controls for their playstyle. However, these new control options will follow “a preset plan.”
Those are all the changes coming to Version 1.1, which is expected to launch sometime in August.
Changes coming to ZZZ in version 1.2 and beyond
In version 1.2, HoYoverse is planning to add a tentatively-titled ‘Fairy Assistance’ feature. This feature will allow players to hand completed Story and Exploration Commissions with uncollected rewards over to the AI Fairy, and receive all the rewards after some time. In HDD TV mode, players also won’t be constantly interrupted by events when accelerated playback is turned on.
Players will also be able to set Agent party templates before going into combat, including preset Bangboos. Agent Training is going to be shifted to a more accessible location with more combat stages. After reaching an unspecified Inter-Knot level, players will also be able to freely change the in-game time of day. This means that you’ll be able to take on time-specific commissions and events more easily.
Beyond version 1.2, HoYoverse teases that players might also be able to control Agents during free roam exploration instead of just Wise or Belle. In-game Agent character models and user interface will also be improved.
HoYoverse’s post specifies that these changes are, “just part of our optimization plans,” so expect even more improvements to come in versions 1.1 and 1.2 beyond what has been detailed here.
