Path of Exile 2’s Witch gameplay walkthrough dives into enticing balance changes for the Witch.
Take notes, Diablo 4. Grinding Gear Games popped up at Summer Game Fest 2024 with a new character class to reveal for Path of Exile 2: the Witch. The Witch returns from Path of Exile (2013) as a playable class, but it comes with a host of quality-of-life changes to make its minions much easier to use. Players will also be able to customise each minion type they use, with new updates making them more viable during boss battles.

Grinding Gear Games is bringing the Witch back as a playable character class in Path of Exile 2. The sequel is not only visually updating the Witch’s look and abilities, but also incorporates a host of much-needed balance changes to make the class a lot more useful during difficult boss battles. The above video demonstrates this with an impressive skeletal boss, which the Witch dispatches with relative ease. One thing’s for sure: if you’re not into visual clutter in your action-RPGs, this is not the class for you.
The Witch gameplay walkthrough runs through the many abilities and improvements coming to the class in this sequel, including the fact that minions now re-summon themselves after a big fight. This means that you’ll never have to worry about keeping all your minions up while moving from one battle to the next, eliminating a lot of repetition for a class that relies on summons.
You can also customise different minions for different purposes, and much like in the first Path of Exile, even go so far as to reanimate minibosses to become your minions. There’s a lot more specificity here compared to a game like Diablo 4, which can’t quite seem to make its minions work without turning them uber-powerful or underpowered. In this game, minions aren’t just larger in volume, but they can also be ordered around to accomplish tasks like opening doors and chests. You can also use minions to spread plague debuffs across entire levels.
The Witch is just one of 12 planned classes in Path of Exile 2, but I know who I’m picking for my first playthrough already. Path of Exile 2 will be available in early access later in 2024.
