Lego’s family of Super Mario sets is expanding with the addition of a 540-piece Piranha Plant model.
Lego has officially announced the latest addition to its Super Mario catalogue: a nine-inch high model of the Piranha Plant. The buildable 540-piece set will hit store shelves on November 6, 2023 for $59.99, and sports adjustable leaves and stalks to strike various poses. The set also comes with a few gold coins, in case you’d just like to give it a little slap and feel good about it.
The Lego Super Mario Piranha Plant (71426) set has an adjustable head, mouth, stalk and leaves, and comes in a pipe of its own, but it does not come with any digital play functions unlike the usual Super Mario sets. That means you won’t be able to play with it using the base Super Mario figure to get coins, or incorporate it into other playable sets.
The set comes with two coins and is made for display, measuring over nine inches high, 4.5 inches wide and 6.5 inches deep. It consists of 540 pieces spread over both the plant and its pipe, which makes it a fairly complex build but by no means too difficult for kids and adults alike, even if they’re unfamiliar with putting together sets like these. Both coins can be fed to the plant, and it looks like a latch on the bottom releases them.
The Lego Piranha Plant set launches on November 6, 2023.
