Capcom is launching a Street Fighter 6 open beta next weekend, featuring eight fighters and more stages from the sequel.
Capcom has announced a new Street Fighter 6 open beta, launching next weekend from May 19 to 21. The beta will go live just a few weeks before the full game’s release, containing the same content from last December’s closed beta test, which only a select few players got access to.
The open beta has also been updated with additional character balancing changes Capcom has implemented since December's closed beta, so it’s worth revisiting anyway. All you need to do is register a Capcom ID, link it to your preferred gaming platform and you’ll be able to access the open beta. The beta will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
While the roster of playable fighters in this beta will be limited, most of the favourites are still here: Luke, Chun-Li, Ryu, Kimberly, Guile, Juri and Ken. You’ll also be able to try out a few of the game’s stages: Metro City Downtown, Genbu Temple, Tian Hong Yuan, Macho Ring, Carrier Byron Taylor and Training Room. There’s definitely more multiplayer content available to play here compared to the Street Fighter 6 Demo.
You have a few ways to play here too, from ranked matches and casual matches to open tournaments and Battle Hub matches. You can also customise your own avatar and try the game’s play-by-play commentary. Cross-play is enabled during the open beta, which means that you can challenge your friends no matter what platform they’re playing on.
Capcom’s recent Street Fighter showcase revealed more of the game’s singleplayer World Tour mode, which allows players to travel around the world and meet up with different fighters. It also revealed four upcoming DLC characters: A.K.I., Rashid, Ed and Akuma, all of whom will arrive post-launch with their own World Tour story campaigns.
Street Fighter 6 launches on June 2, 2023.
