Blizzard is bringing a brand-new survival game to both PC and console in the near future

Blizzard is going big in 2022.

2022 is looking to be Blizzard's year and we're still only in January. Just last week, it was announced that they were going to be bought over by Microsoft. While the deal itself will take some time to see itself over the line, Blizzard is embarking on a new journey with its brand-new survival game made for both PC and console. It will be set in a new universe that is in no way related to Blizzard's existing titles.

With an already stacked roster that includes Overwatch, Diablo, World of Warcraft, and StarCraft, Blizzard is looking to enter into the survival game genre that was made famous by games like Minecraft, Dying Light, and DayZ to name a few. It remains untitled for now with no news on any expected release date. With the release - we use that word loosely! - stating that it'll be available for both PC and console, one can expect it to be compatible with Xbox, given the recent acquisition.

As for the news release about the new game, it came about in the form of a recruitment platform with Blizzard looking for new talent to help work on the game. This includes the art, design, and engineering departments that are looking for people to join the team.

Blizzard also released two artworks to tease on what we can expect from the new IP. While both artworks don't reveal much, one does show a ranger of sorts draped in a hunter-like armour while wielding an axe and tracking a set of footprints. The second shows two children gazing at a floating castle in the distance that looks to be from a different universe to them.

While it remains to be seen what we can truly expect from this game, it is worth noting that Blizzard isn't great at keeping promises. Does anyone remember Overwatch 2 and Diablo 4? With only Diablo Immortal - the mobile phone spinoff - expected to release sometime this year, it's hard to believe that an over-the-top, detailed survival game will be arriving anytime soon.
