Astro Bot and Metaphor: ReFantazio lead the winners of a very competitive year at The Game Awards.
The Game Awards 2024 is over, having dropped shocking announcements and reveals for games like The Witcher 4 and the Okami Sequel. Despite all the excitement over these new game reveals however, this is an awards show first and foremost. This was a controversial year for the show’s nominees, with multiple noted snubs and the puzzling nomination of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree for Game of the Year.
This year, we saw Astro Bot and Metaphor: ReFantazio sweep the categories they were nominated in, with Astro Bot winning Game of the Year and picking up three more trophies for good measure. Balatro and Metaphor: ReFantazio won three trophies each, while Helldivers 2 and Black Myth: Wukong earned two each. Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth also won Best Score and Music.
