Xiao8 will lead Xtreme Gaming’s reformed Dota 2 roster comprising returning stars Ame and XinQ.
Renowned Chinese organization Xtreme Gaming has made significant changes to its Dota 2 roster, welcoming back former stars
Wang “Ame” Chunyu,
Jing “Xxs” Lin, and
Zixing “XinQ” Zhao. Additionally, Xtreme has officially added a new position 5 player,
Qiancheng “Undyne_” Li, who recently stood in for the team during DreamLeague Season 25. The four incoming players will be joining mid laner
Hongcheng “Xm” Guo, the only player retained from Xtreme's previous roster.
The team will now also compete under the leadership of veteran coach Ning “xiao8” Zhang, who famously won The International (TI) 2014 and coached the legendary LGD Gaming rosters from 2020-2024. This marks xiao8’s first coaching role since leaving LGD in September 2024.
Following the departure of former players and coaches, including Wang “Maps” Yutian, Lou “Lou” Zhen, Li “Niu” Kongbo, and Xu “poloson” Jinwei, the current Xtreme Gaming roster is set as follows:
Wang “Ame” Chunyu
Hongcheng “Xm” Guo
Jing “Xxs” Lin
Zixing “XinQ” Zhao
Qiancheng “Undyne_” Li
Ning “xiao8” Zhang (coach)
The return of these Chinese superstars is undoubtedly exciting for the struggling region's competitive scene. Before this reunion, Ame had been playing with Yakult Brothers, where he struggled to find success, while Xxs and XinQ had been inactive on XG’s bench for the last four months.
Undyne, a relatively new name in the scene, joins the roster as the team’s position 5 player. The 23-year old, who began his competitive career in 2022, previously played for notable Chinese organizations like CDEC. He last competed with KEV in June 2024 and is now set to compete alongside this all-star squad for the 2025 season.
Xtreme Gaming gives up ESL One Raleigh slot
Due to the roster changes, Xtreme Gaming announced that they will be forfeiting their slot in ESL One Raleigh 2025, which the team secured through the Chinese Closed Qualifiers. As a result, they will miss the North American tournament set to take place in April 2025.
Xtreme Gaming’s first challenge with this revamped roster will be PGL Wallachia Season 3. The team received a direct invite to the event, where they will compete against 16 other teams for a share of the US$1 million prize pool. The tournament will take place from 8 to 16 March in Bucharest, Romania.
