After getting swept in the The International grand finals in back-to-back years, Gaimin Gladiators are now shifting gears with its roster.
Western European Dota 2 powerhouse Gaimin Gladiators announced on Friday (October 4) that they have moved carry player Anton “dyrachyo” Shkredov to their inactive roster to facilitate his move to a new team.
Dyrachyo had been a crucial part of a Gaimin Gladiators roster that had one of the most dominant runs in recent memory, becoming well-known for his unorthodox, hyper-aggressive playstyle on the carry role during that span of time.
Dyrachyo was part of the Team Tickles stack formed in November 2021 alongside Miroslav “BOOM” Bičan, Marcus “Ace” Hoelgaard, Erik “tOfu” Engel, and Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp that turned heads in the 2022 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) season, with a second place finish in Tour 1 of the Western European regional league. That led to the roster being signed by Gaimin Gladiators in February 2022, though they didn't manage to follow up on that strong start for the rest of the year.
With Quinn “Quinn” Callahan replacing BOOM for what would eventually become the final DPC season in 2023, dyrachyo and the rest of Gaimin Gladiators took the scene by storm by winning all three Majors for that year in Lima, Berlin, and Bali. Gaimin Gladiators also formed a rivalry with fellow Western European squad Team Liquid during that time, having defeated the latter in the grand finals of all three Majors.
However, Gaimin Gladiators couldn't quite complete a perfect season as they were swept in the grand finals of The International 2023 (TI 2023) by Team Spirit.
While Gaimin Gladiators did not have the same level of dominance in 2024 as they did the previous year, they still won Riyadh Masters 2024 – the biggest tournament of the year in terms of prize pool – and earned a direct invite to TI 2024. There, Gaimin Gladiators were finally vanquished by Liquid and were swept in the grand finals of TI for a second-straight year.
Gaimin Gladiators expressed their gratitute for dyrachyo's contributions to the team, notably crediting his “three years of absolute dedication."
“Every challenge on our path, we have overcome together time and time again. We've lifted many trophies, shared bitter losses, but most of all, we shared many more laughs. While this chapter comes to an end, we hope you take this time to appreciate just how much you will be missed,” the organisation added in its announcement of the move.
Gaimin Gladiators captain Seleri also paid his respects to his now-departing carry player in a post on his personal X (formerly Twitter) account, saying: “Thanks for the 3 years playing with me! I am grateful for the time we had together. Everything good comes to an end, but maybe our paths will cross again in the future, GL champ!”
