The Swiss Stage phase of Elite League Season 2 bid farewell to eight teams, including Heroic. Round Robin phase begins today.
The Elite League Season 2 put the South American Dota 2 LAN back on the menu. Kicking off merely days after the conclusion of Riyadh Masters, Elite League began with the first of two group stage phases. Sixteen teams arrived ready to brawl, but it was quickly cut down to half.
Of the eight teams that were able to survive the battle, Execration from Southeast Asia is the only qualified team remaining. Everyone else that advanced had been directly invited to participate.
Despite a few teams playing with standin players or adjustled lineups (OG, Shopify Rebellion), things panned out MOSTLY as expected.
Team Liquid and OG topped the charts, the regional replacement teams and lower tier teams were among the elimianted. The most surprising result was that of Heroic. The South American team was knocked out with a 2:3 series record at the end. Their only two wins were over Execration and Cuyes Esports – which incidently was their first two series. After that it was just downhill with losses for the last three days. Heroic will have just over a month to pull things together before The International 2024 so no need to worry about them just yet!
The action will resume today at 17:00 CEST with the first two series of the Round Robin Stage.
