Ahead of the Elite League, Aurora has announced that Armel "Armel" Tabios has been moved to inactive status.
Aurora Gaming picked up four of the former Talon Esports players in November for the upcoming Dota 2 2023-24 season. Since then the SEA team has had its share of ups and downs but at least has remained a constant fixture in the landscape.
After a decent showing in Group Stage 1 of DreamLeague Season 22, Aurora slumped to a 0-5 record in Group Stage 2 to become the first team to get eliminated.
Now they announce that Armel "Armel" Tabios has been moved to inactive status.
However, we'd like to caution fans from jumping to the wrong conclusions about the player's status, and state it isn't related to the recent results – he wasn't even there!
Instead, Armel has just welcomed a baby into his family and is taking time to be present and around the home more. His first child was also born prematurely which requires more attention.
At this time there is no word on who will replace Armel or if it will be temporary. Artem "lorenof" Melnick stood in for him at DreamLeague Season 22, on loan from Team Tickles-turned-MOUZ.
Aurora is expected to participate in Elite League as part of the Swiss Stage invited teams. Action for this portion starts on March 31st. They are also lined-up to participate in PGL Wallachia in May.
