PSG.Quest make changes; Kaori out, Dukalis in

PSG.Quest makes another change in their roster halfway through the 2023-24 season in hopes of finding chemistry before the remaining events and The International 2024 qualifiers.

PSG Quest has not had the best of seasons so far. Sometime towards the tail end of the 2022-2023 Dota 2 season, they found the perfect recipe for success, but it was short-lived. The team qualified for TI12 through the Western European qualifiers, but their performance in Seattle was massively subpar, and they got eliminated in phase one of the group stage.

Making a change immediately following The International, trading out Tobias “Tobi” Buchner for Abdimalik “Malik” Sailau, and moving to the MENA region, they have failed to secure any events (aside from Games of the Future invite). Fair to say, it isn't entirely their fault. They have been coming in second place for all qualifiers. Of course, MENA region typically has been getting one qualifier spot and those have been all going to Team Falcons – the new team to beat worldwide.

Now the team has made another swap.

Andrey "Dukalis" Kuropatkin already stood in for the team last month at Games of the Future.

With the new changes and more events on the menu, things might improve enough for Quest to land another spot at The International 2024 that will take place in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 2024.

With the Dota Pro Circuit discontinued at the end of 2023, TI invites are back on the menu. According to the official announcement made by Valve, a total of 16 teams will compete for the Aegis of Champions in Copenhagen, Denmark. The 16 slots will be filled by a mix of open qualifiers and regional qualifiers winners as well as directly invited teams. The system, says Valve will be similar to the one used prior to the DPC when the invitations were determined based on team performances at third-party tournaments during the year.

PGL also announced a Three-Year DOTA 2 Tournament Marathon with at least eight events boasting $1 Million prize pools between 2024 and 2026. The first event is set to take place in Bucharest from May 10-19, featuring 16 elite teams. The tournament will take place in PGL Studios in Bucharest, Romania. Open qualifiers begin in just 11 days, closed regional qualifiers will follow starting March 25th.
