OG secured qualification to BetBoom Dacha through the WEU qualifiers and Team Falcons did through the MENA qualifiers to round out the 12 teams for Dubai.
BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 is going to be the first premier Dota 2 tournament of the year. There is a prize pool of $1 million up for grabs, so the competition is bound to be tough. Seven teams had direct invites, and five had the chance to qualify for the event. On the 14th of January, the final two teams to make it through the qualifiers were decided.
The two regions still up for grabs on Sunday were Western Europe (WEU) and the newly created Middle East and North Africa (MENA). OG secured their first LAN qualification in a long time as they defeated Tundra Esports 3-0 to clinch the WEU qualifiers. Team Falcons had a tougher path, having to bring down PSG Quest 3-2 to secure their place in the 12 teams that will compete in Dubai in February 2024.
OG
vs
Tundra Esports
Both OG and Tundra were competing with new rosters after an unsatisfactory 2022-2023 season. OG breezed through to the grand finals without dropping a single game. Tundra lost the very first upper bracket best-of-1 round against OG, but made it to the grand finals after an impressive lower bracket run. Going into the grand finals, the momentum was with Tundra, who defeated Team Secret 2-0 earlier in the day. But as it turns out, that had no impact whatsoever on their matchup against OG.
OG demolished Tundra 3-0, with only game 1 being somewhat competitive. Tundra brought out the Meepo in game 1, and the game swung back and forth for a while till OG gained a grip on it. But game 2 and game 3 were extremely one sided, and ended before the half hour mark. OG did not drop a single game throughout the qualifiers and will be a force to be reckoned with in Dubai.
Team Falcons
vs
PSG Quest
For Team Falcons, it was more of a challenge against PSG Quest. They made it to the grand finals unscathed, even defeating PSG Quest 2-0 on the way there. But PSG Quest learned from their previous loss and took the game to Team Falcons, taking a 1-2 lead in the best-of-5 series.
The best teams in the world show their potential when their backs are against the wall. Team Falcons may be a newly formed team, but they are filled to the brim with experience and potential. They came out all guns blazing to win game 4 with a kill score of 32-9 and game 5 with a kill score of 40-9 to secure the MENA qualification spot, a region that is looking like one of the stronger ones this season.
BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 begins on the 4th of February. The teams have three weeks to prepare themselves to win the top prize at the first Dota 2 LAN event of 2024.
