Despite top four at ESL One KL; BetBoom loses one player

BetBoom had a strong showing at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023, but it doesn't seem like it was enough to keep the team together for the rest of the season.

New Year, New teammate…. at least for the players at BetBoom as Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko is taking some time off for some (much/all/any) the 2024 calendar year.

Pure had been competing with the team for one year now — something that was quite surprising for fans as the Russian player had his share of playing ‘Russian Roulette’ with his career over the last two years. Many will remember that Pure was extremely close to ending his career even before making it into the high ranks of top-tier players. After drawing a pro-Russian symbol on the minimap, he was kicked from the Virtus.pro (outsiders) line-up. The incident got his team disqualified from the EEU regional league in the second Tour, and although he made a public apology and explained that he had no bad intentions, the Dota 2 community as a whole was not ready to forgive him that easily.

At Bali Major, the tournament organizers moved the team to the lower brackets after Pure was reported for breaking the rules.

Their new opponents, Azure Ray, demanded that he be replaced —threatening to forfeit their series and report the violation to Valve.

Despite it all, BetBoom went to The International 2023 as the 12th and final invited team. They took a commendable 5-6th place finish and went charging into the new season without making any roster changes.

This is why it seems surprising for this move after taking an impressive fourth-place finish at ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023

The team will announce his replacement early in the new year.

Moving into the new year, the EPT will resume in February with DreamLeague Season 22, followed by an ESL One LAN tournament hosted in Birmingham in the second part of the month of April.
