As Nigma Galaxy heads into an overhaul of the Dota 2 roster for the season, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan makes a return on the active lineup.
Things seem to be quite topsy-turvey for Nigma Galaxy heading into a new calendar year. The team has been unstable for quite some time, becoming more of loan sharks than a competitive team as Kuroky and Company hoarded some of the best players and lived off player loan royalties.
Case in point- Syed "SumaiL" Hassan. After spending the first two Dota Pro Circuit tours fighting to either avoid relegation or promoted back to Division I, he took a rather unexpected detour later. In May 2023, SumiL was loaned out to Team Aster, for Zhai "Xwy" Jingka, who had become “inactive for the time being" during ESL DreamLeague Season 19.
However, a rough competitive year ended disappointingly for one of the best mid-laners of all time as Team Aster had their road to The International 2023 cut short in the Chinese regional qualifiers by the Division II underdog Team Bright.
While there was never an official note that SumaiL had parted ways permanently with the team, it is now cleared up that he is back on the active roster and will competing under the Nigma Galaxy banner once again.
Yesterday, it was announced that Ivan "MinD_ContRoL" Ivanov had parted ways with Kuroky after more than eight years of competing together.
It was also announced that Maroun "GH" Merhej would be taking a break from competitive play.
There are still many unanswered questions and much to be announced regarding the remaining players to fill up the roster. It is expected that all will be sorted in the next few days.
