Tundra Esports have lost a total of three players this week and are looking at a nearly full restructure of the Dota 2 team in the post TI12 shuffle.
After Leon "Nine" Kirilin announced a competitive break earlier this week, Tundra have also lost Jingjun "Sneyking" Wu and Oliver "skiter" Lepko. The safe lane duo departs after two and a half years spent under the Tundra banner and with an Aegis of Champions claimed in Singapore at TI11, in 2022.
Much like Nine, Sneyking and Skiter joined Tundra at the beginning of 2021 and quickly became one of the strongest teams in the world. The TI11 champions had however, a rough 2023 competitive season and just before TI12, they had to find a quick replacement for Martin "Saksa" Sazdov, who also decided to take a competitive break due to health issues.
Tundra arrived in Seattle for The International 2023 with the double TI champion, Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen joining in the mid lane. Topson’s arrival at the team triggered a role swap for Nine and overall a shift in Tundra’s gameplay. The rather short period to adapt to all the changes, had Tundra getting eliminated in the 13th-16th place at TI12.
“I couldn’t have asked for a better org and team. Together we have achieved great things. I wouldn’t have changed anything and wish everyone as great of a future as can be,” said Skiter upon departing from Tundra.
With the safe lane duo leaving the team and with Nine taking a break, Tundra are now down to just two players.
