In what is another upset on the Road to The International 2023, Entity clean sweep Tundra in the first round of the playoff lower bracket sending the defending champions packing.
This marks the second big upset suffered by Tundra Esports in Seattle. Despite placing first in their group with a 7-1 game score, they landed in the lower bracket by losing the seeding match to Talon Esports, a team they handpicked. In the meantime, Talon have guaranteed themselves atop 8 finish and an appearance on the Climate Pledge Arena, next weekend when the Main Event will unfold.
Tundra Esports
vs
Entity
"I want everyone to fight till the end,” said Daniel "Stormstormer" Schoetzau in an interview with us just a couple of days before the big match against Tundra and his team did just that.
Game one started in a rather disastrous manner for Entity, who revealed an early Naga, which gave Tundra the opportunity to come with multiple answers and heavily countered her. The defending champions had Topias "Topson" Taavitsainen on a mid lane Pugna and Leon "Nine" Kirilin on a position 4 Weaver, who created a lot of chaos in the early game.
Before the 6 minute mark Entity were left without the Tier 1 Tower in the mid lane and around the 20 minute mark they were forced to group up for high ground defense. It looked like everything was going Tundra’s way’s, except the high ground siege.
Entity played a patience game, waiting for their cores to finish their Heart of Tarrasque and Bkbs, and once those came online, a couple of pickoffs on Weaver opened the door for a comeback. They seized the opportunity, shifted gears and became the aggressors, making a full comeback from nearly a 20K gold deficit.
Game two was a completely different story, as Entity won all their lanes and forced Tundra to a fast paced game that shut down their Alchemist carry draft.
With the clean sweep over Tundra Esports, Entity are one series away from making it to the top 8 at The International. They will return to the stage later today to fight against Virtus.pro.
