Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf’s journey with Quest Esports comes to an abrupt ending caused by contractual issues.
Following their fast performance growth after taking Ammar "ATF" Al-Assaf on loan from Nigma Galaxy, Quest Esports won’t continue with the offlane prodigy at the upcoming Riyadh Masters 2023 and most likely won’t have him for The International regional qualifiers either.
ATF arrived at Quest Esports at the beginning of the Summer Tour. With him in the offlane, Quest qualified for the Bali Major and were two series away from clinching a spot a TI12 as well. They needed a top 2 finish in Bali in order to claim the last ticket to TI, but their Cinderella run was stopped in the lower bracket semifinals.
Nonetheless, the vibes were all positive after their Major exit. All players, ATF included, seemed confident in what the roster can do moving forward and looking at playing the most stacked TI qualifier in the Western Europe region. During ATF’s short tenure at Quest, the team has also qualified for Riyadh Matsers 2023, however, mere days before the tournament is set to begin, Quest announced that despite their best efforts, they were unable to negotiate for ATF’s continuation under their banner.
ATF shed light on all the information that could have been misleading and damaging to Nigma Galaxy’s image and explained that Quest didn’t want to extend the loan contract, and instead, they offered him a new contract.
According to ATF, the organization wasn’t up for negotiations, offering the player two options, either sign the contract as it is or remain benched at Nigma.
“To be honest Nigma did help with everything loan/buyout but quest contract is not acceptable for me,” posted ATF on Twitter.
While ATF’s future is uncertain, Quest Esports will begin the play-in stage at Riyadh Masters 2023 with NAVI’s offlaner Abdimalik "Malik" Sailau standing in.
