In front of a live audience, Azure Ray and beastcoast ended their Bali Major runs after two full three-game series.
It was the first day of the Bali Major being played in front of a live audience. Things started out with the two elimination series, sending two more teams home.
The first series was an all-Chinese brawl as PSG.LGD took on Azure Ray. In Game 1, Azure Ray was clearly the favorite and on top. Their performance was smooth, coordinated, and even perfect for Xu "fy" Linsen and Lou "Lou" Zhen.
Game 2 was a bit more chaotic, with action and leads swinging both ways. But with PSG.LGD always being able to take back control, the team was able to tie up the series and force the third match. Game 3 was heavily one-sided in favor of LGD and with little trouble closed out the game and series with the victory, eliminating Azure Ray.
Azure Ray will need to head to the regional qualifiers to punch a ticket to TI, but it was expected and most fans are looking forward to them clinching the single spot available to the region. They also walk away with $12,500 in their pockets.
PSG.LGD had already secured their TI invite but will now continue their Bali Major journey into the lower bracket quarter-finals where they will be playing the loser of Gaimin Gladiators/Quest tomorrow, July 8th at 04:00 CEST.
On day 2 of the playoffs, beastcoast sent Shopify Rebellion to secure their own TI invite and proceed through the lower brackets.
9pandas had already secured their spot so these two teams were now battling it out for a bigger slice of the prize pool and prestige bragging rights for high results and hopes for a trophy and championship title.
In the first game of the series, 9panda's draft looked weak - heavy to snowball but hard to win a game with. Which is exactly what happened to them. It was action-packed and filled with intense emotions but 9pandas just couldn't pull off the win. It took a full hour for beastcoast to claim the victory in the end.
Game 2 was flawless for Matvey "MieRo`" Vasyunin and the EEU team just destroyed the SA team in just 35 minutes. And things didn't get any better for beastcoast in the third match. In fact, they got worse.
9pandas secured both games easily to advance through to the lower bracket quarter-finals. They will meet up next with the loser of Tundra/Team Liquid tomorrow, July 8th at 07:45.
beastcoast will leave with $12,500 and more importantly, their TI ticket secured.
The action continues today with two of the upper bracket best-of-three series.
