OG defeat Entity in a crucial series to keep Berlin Major dreams alive

In what was a make or break series for the Spring Tour, OG defeated Entity 2-0 for a chance to make it to the Berlin Major.

The Western European Dota 2 region is a wonderfully weird one; at least for the 2023 DPC Spring Tour. The Division I League was so tightly contested, that in the last series of the league between OG and Entity, the winner would end up fighting for a ticket to the Berlin Major, while the loser would have to fight for their Division I spot in the tiebreakers.

Everyone would have expected a tightly contested series, since the two teams are relatively evenly matched. They were two of the three teams in the tiebreaker for the Winter Tour, but OG lost out that time. This time around though, the OGvsEntity game was anything but close. The two time TI winning organization, who picked up momentum towards the end of the league, cruised to a 2-0 win over Entity with a commanding display in both games. Entity were on a death spiral. They won their first two series in the league, but lost the next four before their game against OG. The series scores for the two teams might have been the same, but the trajectories were very different.

But the tour hasn’t concluded for either team, though. Both still have some work ahead of them – OG to get to the major, and Entity to avoid getting relegated from Division I.

As it stands, the table is as follows-

There are three sets of tiebreakers that will take place on the 3rd of April. The first one is between Tundra Esports and Gaimin Gladiators, to determine the 2nd and 3rd spots. This won’t change anything regarding the Berlin Major, but it is necessary to decide the prize money and DPC points allocation. This will be best-of-3 series.

The second tiebreaker will be between Ooredoo Thunders and OG, and the winner of this bo3 will be travelling to Berlin. The loser will stay in Division I for the Summer Tour.

The last set of tiebreakers will be the most brutal. Entity, Nigma Galaxy and Monaspa will fight in best-of-1s to determine which one team gets to stay in Division I. It will be a round robin of games, and the team that wins two games in a row (in a particular round) will get to stay. The other two teams will be relegated.

WEU DPC Spring Tour Division I tiebreaker schedule

Western Europe sure is living up to its reputation of being the best Dota 2 region in the world. Let’s hope we get some tough games in all three tiebreakers!
