After a full three-game series, Entity served EG their ticket home, potentially ending their TI invite dreams at the same time.
The Lower Round 1 elimination matchup's second series set Entity against Evil Geniuses. Entity had nothing on the line, their TI invite hopes dashed before the event's start. Evil Geniuses were fighting for their TI invite. And yet it still took a full three games to determine the winner.
The first game saw Entity last pick a Venomamcer which seemed to have absolutely no impact on the game. Without any stuns, and having failed to snowball the lane, Entity could not lock down Evil Geniuses. With notable performances from Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko on Nightstalker and Abed "Abed" Azel Yusop on his signature hero Storm Spirit, The North American TI hopefuls secured the first win with relative ease.
In the second match of the series, Evil Geniuses' draft was much to be desired. They chose two position 5 supports that don't scale well or have control and Entity played well to their strengths and lineup. This allowed Entity to tie things up 1:1 bringing things to a deciding third game.
In the final game Entity outdrafted EG and the BeastMaster was brutal against their lineup. The standin player Jonáš "SabeRLighT-" Volek had a clean/perfect game with a 10:0:12 record and sent EG home.
EG will go home in 9-12th place with no DPC points or money in their pockets. They may need to head to Singapore for The International via the regional qualifiers, officially determined by tomorrow's Fnatic game.
Entity will continue to fight their way through the lower brackets on Friday, August 12th at 17:00 CEST against BOOM Esports, who secured their own TI invite when they knocked out Team Liquid earlier.
The action continues tonight with the third elimination series in the Lower Bracket Round 1 with Outsiders taking on RNG. Both teams are eager for victory to keep their TI invite dreams alive.
