Red Bull has announced their newest event - Red Bull Guardians 2018 with a new twist on the drafting and ultimately gameplay.

Known in the past for some unique events, Red Bull will be hosting a four-team event October 19-20th at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere in London.

For the Red Bull Guardians 2018, substitution heroes will change the strategy and tactics to become the championship team.

Four leading Dota teams will be competing in a competition that will change the way pro players have to think about their strategy. While the compelling Dota gameplay will remain the same, there is an additional drafting phase in which teams can choose three heroes to be substitutes.

Players can swap between each hero during the game, and the incoming hero will retain the same items and experience as the outgoing character. There is also a three-minute individual cooldown, attached to each player, for use of this ability.

So far both paiN Gaming and Mineski have confirmed their participation in the event with two more teams to be revealed soon.

Red Bull Gaming Sphere was opened during the spring of 2018 in London. The facility is boasted as the UK’s largest public esports studio and upcoming events are usually open to the public with a limited number of spaces for those over 16 years old.
