The winners of the ESL One Genting 2018 Minor and 4th team on the Dota Pro Circuit Rankings received the second invite to the ESL One Birmingham 2018 Major after Virtus.pro.

With what seems to be the natural criteria for selecting the direct invites to their third and final LAN this season, tournament organizers ESL tweeted out the second direct invite to the Major scheduled to take place in Birmingham. Virtus.pro, winners of ESL One Hamburg 2017 and ESL One Katowice 2018 received the first invite. It seemed clear that Newbee —winners of ESL One Genting 2018 were the obvious choice for the second invite. More announcements regarding the next few invites are expected to come soon.

Despite some noticeable ups and downs, as well as below-average results in several LANs this season, the team has proven itself as one of the top contenders to watch out for in the upcoming International. They are also likely recipients of a direct invite through a top 8 finish on the Dota Pro Circuit Rankings at the moment. Their last LAN win in January at ESL One Genting was no small feat. They beat none other than the TI7 champions Team Liquid, in a grueling and exhilarating best of 5 series.

The 12 team tournament that is scheduled to begin on the 23rd of May has a prize pool of 1$ Million and 1500 Pro Circuit points.
