Fire Dragoon esports will be looking to make a splash onto the SEA region circuit.
A new team finalized under the guidance of Adam 'adam' Shah, Fire Dragoon esports are expecting to make waves and turn the tides in the new season.
In an open and heartfelt letter to his fans, the SEA support player detailed the often painful and rocky road a professional player often travels. Since his stint with Fnatic in 2016 leading up to The International 6 where he was part of the team claiming an impressive 4th place finish, adam has since found himself part of an unstable concoction of teams and direction.
His breakthrough moment was in April 2016 when he joined Fnatic’s infamous squad including Chai 'Mushi' Yee Fung, Zheng 'MidOne' Yeik Nai, Chong Xin "Ohaiyo" Khoo and Djardel Jicko B. 'DJ' Mampusti. Immediately, the results were promising and the achievements started to rack up. Clinching qualifiers, minor event titles and commendable finishes at premier LAN events, the future was bright. A lower bracket start to the main event of TI6, the team knocked out names such as Alliance, Liquid and MVP.Phoenix before elimination in Round 5 of the Lower Bracket at the hands of Digital Chaos, who would assume the runner up position by the end.
Not immune to the roster shuffles, the team splintered off post TI6.
A series of disappointing results and short lived team formations including B)ears, and Mineski didn’t seem to amount to much, leaving Adam without a team for TI7. Trying his hand a coaching, he joined up with CompLexity for the qualifiers and when they fell short, hooked up with the new Digital Chaos roster in preparation for their run at TI7.
Thrust into the doubt and introspection that follows a difficult year, adam was faced with two choices; defeat or opportunity.
And from those ashes, a new roster was born - Fire Dragoon esports.
In a region that seems to be ripe with talent and promise, a rising force on the Dota 2 landscape, adam finalized a newer team formed from within the local pool instead of recruiting from the other regions as has been the latest trend.
Lai 'Ahjit' Jay Son is probably the most well known of adam’s teammates. After playing with WG.Unity he joined Fnatic’s last lineup making his LAN debut with the team in Taipei for Zotac Cup Masters taking 3-4th place and then TI7 where the team suffered an abysmal performance, failing to advance past the group stage. Ahjit is no stranger to high pressure situations and is able to perform well under such circumstances.
Liang Ying “yang” Yang and Brayant "BrayaNt" Pang have been floating around the Malaysian Dota 2 scene for some time, playing with various teams such as WG.Youth.
Vincent Hiew Teck “AlaCrity” Yoong is well known through the region and on the pub block due to his high MMR (over 9k) and raw talent.
Adam told GosuGamers that he believes the success of his team will not come from a player’s experience or namesake, but from what comes from within.
Look for the team to be competing in the StarLadder iLeague Minor qualifiers and perhaps in MESL in the next few weeks.
