KotLguy receives last minute invite off overwhelming community support

Many casters and personalities announced on Twitter yesterday that they will be heading to The International 5 but one prominent one from BeyondTheSummit was left out in the cold. Dakota 'KotLGuy' Cox did not receive an invite. Disappointed and crushed, Cox decided to call it an early night.

While Cox slumbered, a thread on his tweet slowly made it to the number one spot on r/dota2. Hundreds of fans and personalities poured their love for the forgotten caster, many claimed that he would be the perfect host for the event.

"Ok seriously. What bullshit. Kotlguy did sooo much work this year. It's absolutely ridiculous that he didn't get an invite yet. I really hope this is an oversight," said SirBelvedere, a personality on r/dota2.

An oversight indeed. A few hours later, KotLGuy stated that he received a late night invitation from Valve to attend the event. He claimed that he was woken up by his wife due to a Skype message and he was excited when he found out that it was an invite to The International 5. "At this point, I can't know if this was already in the cards or if it's the result of this incredible show of support from the community," Cox wrote.

"I apologize for posting what may have been a preemptive tweet, but I had no reason not to assume what everyone else had. My fellow casters are so incredibly talented and hard-working, and I realize that there are limited spots. Everyone is SO deserving of their spots, and those who didn't get invited in that first wave are very deserving as well. With that said, I am so incredibly grateful to get this opportunity."

He ended his posting by thanking the community again for their overwhelming support.

Cox did not specify on what role he will fill at The International 5.
