Although The International 2024 is over, there are still plenty of events to watch throughout this year and the next.
The International 2024 finished less than a week ago with Team Liquid claiming the Aegis of Champions after a 3:0 sweep through Gaimin Gladiators. Typically, the post-TI blues would start to set in about now. The weeks following The International are usually quiet, as teams take their much-needed and deserved holidays, and sort through new lineups and roster shuffles.
But this year is quite different.
Unlike in the past when TI was considered the end of the season, it seems that it has become just another stop on the Dota 2 events roadmap.
This could partly be because the TI prize pool is no longer a bounty that awards staggering amounts of prize money to players. It clocked in just over $2.5 million at the end – not nearly enough to make it the main or sole event of interest for players and teams.
Another explanation could be that the landscape is just changing, without the DPC or a Major/Minor system set up as markers to revolve around, or roster locks with open and closing dates to adhere to that used to throw a monkey wrench into third-party organizer's plans and calendars.
Whatever the reason is, this year's Post-TI calendar is full as we head into 2025.
Up first will be PGL's Wallachia Season 2. Just like with last season, PGL will host the event at their studios in Bucharest, Romania from October 4 to 13 with no live audience.
A total of 10 teams received direct invites to the event based on their performance early in the year at various other tournaments. Regional qualifier winners filled the remaining six slots – 1 per region.
Qualifiers for BetBoom Dacha are expected to begin this week with DreamLeague Season 24 qualifiers starting next week.
The Dota 2 scene is now in its post-TI roster shuffle period, as teams are disbanded, retooled, or even remade entirely in an effort to assemble the best rosters possible to try and capture next year's world championship title.
