DT.Air: Brewmaster will still be popular in this patch

Hello Yin. Kindly introduce yourself to our community.

Hello everyone, I am Air from DT and I'm 23 years old.

You have been with DT and other members since its inception excluding DreamyU. You even played with the same roster under the now defunct RisingStars before switching back to DT. What reasons have made the team to stick with each other through thick and thin?

We have known each other for years. We have started playing with each other before I started my professional career. That is the reason why we stick with this team.

DT made a resurgence in late 2013, although it was not until recently that your team came into the community spotlight, especially when you knocked out Team DK from ESL ONE Chinese qualifiers. Did you expect to win against DK? What was going on in your mind prior to that match?

We were confident ands we thought we had a chance to win against DK. Yes, we had a strategy planned while going into the game against them and had the general idea of how to counter their draft.

Nonetheless, DK suffered defeat at your hands. Do you think they made any mistakes which cost them the series? If yes, then kindly mention those mistakes which, according to you, contributed to DK’s loss.

DK didn’t counter our draft. They gave us Brewmaster twice. On the other hand, Ember Spirit doesn’t have a high win rate in this patch.

Which teams do you think are most likely to advance to the ESL One, making it through the Chinese Qualifiers? With one of the strongest teams, DK, eliminated in the running for a spot in the playoffs, do you think that it will make a difference for the teams currently playing in the tournament?

I would say, team IG if they could enhance the chemistry in the team.

Your astounding plays on Brewmaster has been of focus lately. People have even mentioned that your Brewmaster is by far the best in Dota 2. What makes that hero fit into your team line-up so effectively?

I played a lot of Brewmaster in DotA. It fits well in our lineup as it can make or break the game.

Do you predict a rise to fame in the meta game for Brewmaster? Will it become a popular pick? Why do you think that teams have not picked/banned him as much now as in the past?

I think brewmaster is getting more popular. It was not popular before since people thought this hero is weak in the laning phase. Now people are beginning to discover out his true potential.

How has Brewmaster benefited from the latest patch with his improved Drunken Brawler? Does it make the hero more viable as a semi-carry?

It’s a nice improvement, even if it’s not buffed. I think Brewmaster will still be popular in this patch. I only played pushing Brewmaster or hard core. I have never tried semi-carry.

Who do you think were the major winners with the 6.81 patch update? Even with Keeper of The Light and Lich’s huge ultimate buffs, is it viable to farm an Aghanim’s Scepter on the two hard supports?

Omniknight has the potential because it's buffed in this patch but there are no teams as of now that can use him well yet. Keeper of the Light can get Aghanim’s Sceptre easily but the same will be difficult for Lich.

Speaking of patch updates, Centaur Warrunner was one of the few heroes that has not received a buff or a nerf in the latest patch. Why is he preferred so much even though none of his skills have seen any change?

Centuar is good for stun and nuke. His ultimate can also be used for chasing or escaping.

Any other heroes, according to you, that can be viable with the implementation of the latest patch?

Huskar and Ursa. They can be very strong after being able to use other attack modifiers.

There are many teams in China who hold vast experience against international teams in various tournaments, like Team DK, players from iG and NewBee. With such vast experience, what advantage do you think you hold over such teams?

We will spend more time in studying to counter other teams. Our advantage is that we are prepared.

Moving forward, DT has been invited to The International 2014 Chinese qualifiers where you’ll be pit against other up and coming teams. How is DT preparing for the qualifiers? Can you give us a rough idea on your team’s preparations?

We are developing some new strategy, we keep studying other teams, and we keep training.

According to you, which teams going into the TI4 Chinese qualifiers are the strongest? Do you think DT will go to Seattle in July?

LGD is better. I think we could make it if we work hard.

Any special strategies you are preparing or have thought of?

For sure. We are prepared.

The International compendium was released recently and it saw over 6 million USD being raised by the community in just over 9 days as compared to 11 weeks last year for raising 1 million. What are your thoughts?

The player count is only increasing with each passing day. So the prize pool is bound to be more attractive as people know what a compendium really is as compared to last year.

How big can the prize pool get considering we still have over 70 days for TI4 to start?

From my perspective, the prizepool should reach 7-8 million, but the more the merrier.

As we near the end of our interview, I’d like to know your opinion on the Dota 2 scene in China. Has it exploded or do people still prefer DotA? Also, how is it to play against the same teams over and over again?

Dota 2 has too few tournaments in China so playing against the same teams is tedious. We definitely would love playing against different teams as that is the only way we can develop.

What can be done to improve the overall scenario in China? Has ACE been doing a decent job in lifting the barriers that affected Chinese Dota 2 at TI3? Or is it still slacking behind?

Dota 2 needs more advertisement and promotion in China. I am not sure what ACE is doing, but I think they have learnt a thing or two in the past year.

You have not played official matches against teams from different regions besides Titan in April, especially in SEA. Do you think that Chinese tournaments should be more inclusive to nearby regions?

That is because there were no solid competitions in China which made it difficult to attract foreign teams.

Alright Yin that concludes our interview. Thank you so much for your precious time. Any last words?

I hope the E-sport environment gets better. It can make our team get better too.
