The group stage of the DreamHack Winter 2014 is over. The top eight teams will continue their battle tomorrow in the playoffs where the first match is scheduled to start at 11.00 CET.
The draw has been made and the playoffs will be opened with the match between HellRaisers and Ninjas in Pyjamas. The Ukranian team was totally outstanding today, beating Fnatic and securing the first seed in their group. On the other hand, NiP hardly passed through the group stages in a real thriller against ESC Gaming. This match is scheduled to start at 11.00 CET and will feature a best-of-three series.
Virtus.pro was supreme in their group, beating both myXMG and Natus Vincere with 16-2. They will now face Penta Sports, a debutants at the major tournaments who managed to go through to the top eight teams. Penta lost their group match against Dignitas, but then they took two in a row against CPH Wolves and iBUYPOWER. The match against North American team showed that Penta has no problems playing under the pressure and making a big comebacks, so it will be interesting to see them in the action against Biceps and co.
Probably not a very fortunate draw for the Team LDLC, but if they want to go big they will have to pass this challenge. The French team will face Fnatic, who have finished second in their group after losing to HellRaisers. In the last few events we've seen this two teams playing a grand final matches where the Swedish team has come on the top each time. The odds are in their favour, but LDLC will try to break them.
In the last quarter final match we will see Team Dignitas and Natus Vincere battling out. Dignitas topped their group without much hassle, while on the other hand Na'Vi struggled a lot to secure their spot in the playoffs. They got demolished by Virtus.pro 16-2 and then they clutched victory over Flip.Side in the overtime for the second seed of their group.
