mousesports gets diqualified from ESL Pro League

Although the list of all participating teams for ESL Pro League was completed today, the organizers had to make some last minute adjustments. The German team, mousesports, got disqualified. They will be replaced by Penta Sports.

The German team, mousesports, who were left without a spot at the last major of the year, DreamHack Winter, have now received another blow. They aren't able to compete at the ESL Pro League as well. The organizers have decided to disqualify them since the team was using Simon "smn" Beck as a stand-in player during the first two rounds of German qualifier. It was previously reported that smn was caught cheating by ESEA and he also got VAC banned, so those were the reasons behind which ESL has based their decision.

ESL have announced that mousesports will be replaced by Penta Sports who were second at the German qualifier. Mousesports organization weren't really pleased with the following actions and they came up with the official statement:

After we’ve caught the news that Team Alternate’s player Simon „smn“ Beck has been caught cheating in ESEA, we’ve been in contact with the ESL, since the player has played two first round matches (16:3 vs. "Offline Mod CS:GO" & 16:2 vs. „UNKNOWN") in the ESL Pro League Qualifier Germany as a stand-in for mousesports, as our player Johannes „mouz tabseN“ Wodarz was not available during the early rounds of the tournament.

We’ve managed to win the German Pro League Qualifier against other ESL Pro Series teams with our regular lineup and qualified for the ESL Pro League in the process.

After we’ve learned of Beck’s VAC Ban, we’ve immediately offered the ESL to resign from our successful Pro League qualification. Unfortunately we’ve been told, that this is not possible and that we had to wait on a final decision by ESL on the matter.

Although Beck has not been caught cheating in the two matches he played as a stand-in for mousesports, we are very sad that the unacceptable behavior of one non-mousesports player now affects our entire team, which successfully qualified for the ESL Pro League but is not allowed to participate in the upcoming ESL Pro League any longer.

Furthermore we would like to state, that Team Alternate player Simon „smn“ Beck has never been an official player of mousesports nor was he contracted in any way by our organization.
