Natus Vincere stomped through the group A, while the group B had a three-way-tie where in the end Team LDLC came on the top.
Six teams, fifteen matches and only two could advance to the playoffs. Natus Vincere just stomped through their group with the score of five wins and zero loses, Fnatic followed with four wins and only one lost game. The group B was more interesting since we saw a three-way-tie with Team LDLC, Virtus.pro and Cloud9 finishing off with four wins and 1 lost match.
The first day of ESWC main event was opened with the duel between Na'Vi and k1ck which was an easy execution of the Ukranian team on de_inferno. Fnatic also started dominantly by defeating LC on de_inferno. Both teams were just scoring the points with one win after the another where in the end everything fall to their encounter. The map was de_mirage and Na'Vi showed why they're considered as one of the best teams on it. Fnatic got completely crashed with the score of 16-5. However, we've seen some amazing plays during the match, especialy one where flusha clutched the round at T side by patiently waiting for both players to show and not killing the GuardiaN when he easily could. Na'Vi is going into the playoffs as the first placed team from the groups, while Fnatic will have a second seed.
The group B brought a lot more entertainment since it was a three top teams fighting for the top 2 seeds. LDLC, VP and C9 kicked off with the wins, they didn't had much trouble scoring them against the other teams in the group. The first interesting match was seen when VP took on Cloud9. The map was de_cache, basicly the replay of the match from FACE IT lan from the last weekend with the exact same score, 16-11 for the North American squad. At this point VP had the lowest chance to get any of the first two spots, unless they beat Team LDLC. Pasha and co. performed amazing at de_overpass and they took down the French team with 16-13 which brought them back into the game for the first two seeds. The last match which was deciding who will go through was between Team LDLC and Cloud9. They decided to play on de_inferno, one of the strongest map of the French squad. SmithZz performed very well and led his team to the victory of 16-7. In the end Cloud9 got eliminated due to round difference in the three-way-tie, where Team LDLC took the first seed and Virtus.pro the second one.
The event will continue tomorrow with the groups C and D where the first matches are scheduled to start at 09.30 CET and will span over the whole day.
