PGL Major Stockholm 2021 team list: Three groups, three stages, one winner

PGL Major Stockholm 2021 is set to kick off on October 26. There will be three groups and three stages as teams battle it out for the championship title.

The time is near. The biggest competition of the Counter-Strike: Global Operation (CS:GO) community, the PGL Major Stockholm 2021 will be starting on the 26th of October. 

Twenty four of the best teams from around the world will be converging in Stockholm, Sweden and battle with each other in a gruelling three-stage tournament to reach the grand final where the winner will walk away with a big slice of the $2,000,000 prize pool as the reigning champions.

Representatives from Europe, the Americas and APAC will be battling to see who will raise the trophy at the end of the tournament.

Tournament Format

There will be three stages to the event as follows:

New Challengers

  • 16 teams
  • Round-robin
  • Bo1 for most matches
  • Bo3 for advancement and elimination matches
  • 8 will proceed to New Legends

New Legends

  • 16 teams (8 seeded + 8 teams from New Challengers)
  • Round-Robin
  • Bo1 for most matches
  • Bo3 for advancement and elimination matches
  • 8 will proceed to New Champions playoffs

New Champions

  • Single-elimination bracket
  • Bo3 in all matches

Legends, Challengers and Contenders

A total of 24 teams from all corners of the globe have shed tears and digital blood to be the best of the best in their region, and in Stockholm, they want to prove that they are the best in the world.

There are three different groups for this Major – Legends, Challengers and Contenders. Each of the six regions is divided according to its strength, with one region having more teams than the others. The breakdown is as follows:

  • Europe: 3 Legends, 6 Challengers and 2 Contenders.
  • North America: 3 Legends, 1 Challenger and 1 Contender
  • CIS: 2 Legends, 1 Challenger and 2 Contenders
  • Oceania: 1 Contender
  • Asia: 1 Contender
  • South America: 1 Contender
