BabyKnight, Happy advance as the only foreigners at HSC 8 QFs

The Russian Terran and the Danish Protoss qualified for the HomeStory Cup 8 playoffs as the only two foreigners. They will play Hyun and Symbol, respectively, for a place in the semi finals.

A couple of upsets accompanied the Round of 16 played last night. SK's star Protoss MC was the first to go out of the tournament on Saturday afternoon after a 1-2 loss to ToD and a 0-2 defeat at the hands of Jjakji. The Frenchman followed him soon thereafter and made a group top four of Happy as first and Jjakji as runner-up.

Another foreigner topped Group B. Former Na`Vi member BabyKnight scored the only flawless run in the round and defeated Dayshi and HerO on his way to the playoffs. The Liquid Protoss recovered against the French Terran in the decider match, finished second and left both him and Zerg Queen Scarlett out of the competition.

After the foreign triumph in the first two groups, the Koreans returned to take the other half. Not allowing a single European to pass through, Taeja and Symbol trampled through Group C while Zerg duo Leenock and HyuN ruled in Group D over the Germans Socke and Heromarine.

Thus drawn, the HSC 8 playoff pairings will bring rematches and team kills galore. QF #1 will match BabyKnight and Symbol in a rematch from the Ro32 of this very tournament and so will QF #3 between Happy and HyuN. The other two quarter finals are the team kill between HerO and Taeja (also a DreamHack Winter rematch) and Jjakji vs Leenock, a repeat face-off from the 2011 GSL November finals.
