Hyped about Netflix's Avatar: The Last Airbender? We have our own Dota 2 elements heroes and we think they are better.
Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender follows the long-missing Avatar Aang and his two newfound friends from the Water Tribe, Sokka, and Katara, as they try to end the war. Released yesterday, February 22nd, there has been much hype from fans as a dramatic reimagination and likeness to a One Piece-like level of authenticity with its casting and costuming.
While characters "bending" one of the four classical elements—water, earth, fire or air is indeed cool, and the more grounded, violent, mature spin makes it more appealing for viewers, I still can't get behind being in Team Avatar – of any element. Especially when Dota 2 has our own element-yielding heroes.
Ok, there are more than just those four, but you get the point. Dota 2 heroes are just so much… cooler than them.
Although Netflix's Studio Mir did give us three seasons of Dota: Dragon’s Blood, and it might have its (many) flaws, I'm still open to more Dota spin-offs on Netflix. I wouldn't mind seeing a more broody live-action adaptation of our beloved game.
