Baldur's Gate 3 is finally getting a physical release with a ton of extra goodies for fans.
If you haven’t picked up Baldur’s Gate 3 yet, good news! Larian Studios has finally revealed that its fantastic Dungeons & Dragons-based RPG is getting a physical release in 2024. Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition will allow you to play the game on a disc, or rather multiple discs owing to its size. This version of the game is quite a whopper for its $79.99 price tag too, as it also includes a physical soundtrack with three discs, a cloth map, a Mind Flayer poster, a bunch of patches and stickers and a collectible box.
It’s a collector’s dream, and well worth double-dipping for diehard fans despite its lack of new in-game content.
What’s in Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition?
Baldur’s Gate 3 launched as a digital-only game much like this year’s Alan Wake 2, but it looks like the game’s success has prompted Larian to start distributing a physical version of the game by itself. Baldur’s Gate 3: Deluxe Edition will be available for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X for $79.99 when it launches in Q1 2024, exclusively on Larian’s online store. The Deluxe Edition is now available for pre-order.
Here’s everything you get in the physical Deluxe Edition:
- Baldur’s Gate 3 game discs
- Game box
- Original soundtrack on three CDs
- Double-sided cloth world map
- Two fabric patches (Flaming Fist or Mark of the Absolute)
- 32 stickers
- Mind Flayer poster
The amount of discs you get depends on your platform of choice. On PC, you’ll get a DVD with a custom game installer and a Steam key. On PlayStation 5, you’ll get two discs and on Xbox Series you’ll get three discs, but for both consoles, the game will be playable on the disc itself. The Deluxe Edition also includes a bunch of in-game goodies from the Digital Deluxe Edition, such as the following:
- Divinity Item Pack
- Bard Song Pack
- Exclusive Dice Skin
- Paintings from Rivellon
- Adventurer’s Pouch
- Digital OST
- Digital Artbook
- Digital Character Sheets
Honestly, $79.99 is a really solid price for this. The Deluxe Edition costs just $10 more than the base game, but you’ll get physical discs for both the game and its soundtrack along with patches, stickers, posters and more collectibles to whet the appetites of diehard fans. Unfortunately, it’s only arriving next year, so new players will have to choose between a long wait or an instant digital purchase to play the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is coming out on Xbox Series X|S soon, with a specific release date to be revealed during The Game Awards 2023. The game is currently playable on PlayStation 5, PC and Mac.
