Evil Geniuses South American Dota 2 roster enters free agency while the organization’s future is uncertain.
While many employees were reporting that they were laid off by Evil Geniuses on November 1, the now Evil Geniuses manager Vitoria "Guashineen" Otero broke the news on social media regarding the Dota2 team situation stating that the entire roster parted ways with the organization and that everyone is “seeking a new future.”
“Today many layoffs happened at EG and it's very unlikely that they acquire a new roster,” Guashineen added.
It is unclear if the roster aims to stick together and move under a new banner in the same formula, but this is the second SA team to part ways with its organization in the post TI11 shuffle. All beastcoast players have also announced their fee agency earlier this week. The difference, however, is that beasctoast already confirmed their wish to stay in the Dota 2 scene and sign a new roster for the 2024 competitive season, while for EG, reports are indicating a full exit from the field.

More layoffs at Evil Geniuses
November 1 brought a new round of layoffs at Evil Geniuses with the global creative director Antonia Bonello and vice president of operations, John Jung, amongst others announcing the termination of their contracts.
According to a post from LCS data scientist Beora, around 20 people were laid off by the organization on November 1. The news came less than a month after EG dropped two of their biggest names in fighting games, SonicFox and dekillsage, who entered free agency after spending three years with the NA organization and after overall, a full 2023 year of controversies surrounding player mistreatment and numerous staff members departing, including CEO Nicole LaPointe.
SumaiL vs Evil Geniuses jury trial
Additionally, this coming Monday, November 6, 2023, Evil Geniuses are summoned to court for the jury trial started by their former TI5 Champion, Syed “SumaiL” Hassan, who is accusing the organization of “taking advantage of a naive and vulnerable” teenage player during and after his contract with the NA powerhouse. Several ex-EG employees and players are expected to provide testimonies in front of the jury, including Clinton "Fear" Loomis, Saahil "Universe" Arora, Artour "Arteezy" Babaev, and Andreas “Cr1t- ”Nielsen, along with Peter "ppd" Dager, and former COO Philip Aram.
