Overwatch 2 is getting Le Sserafim-themed hero skins and a custom game mode while the K-pop group heads to BlizzCon 2023.
Blizzard Entertainment has announced a fairly unexpected collaboration for Overwatch 2: the K-pop group Le Sserafim is crossing over with the game for unique hero skins, a custom game mode and a music video for the group’s next single ‘Perfect Night’. Le Sserafim will also perform Perfect Night at BlizzCon 2023 to conclude the show.
Overwatch 2 x Le Sserafim
Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Huh Yunjin, Kazuha, and Hong Eunchae make up Le Sserafim, though you’d be forgiven if you haven’t heard of them until now - the group only just released their five-song debut EP Fearless last year. This isn’t to say that the quintet is unpopular by any means, however. Their songs have racked up millions of views on YouTube, and the band has an established fanbase online.
Overwatch 2 and Le Sserafim are collaborating on a music video for the group’s next single Perfect Night, which releases on October 27 at 12pm (SGT). Following the song’s debut, the group will perform Perfect Night at BlizzCon on November 5 (SGT) to conclude the show, which plans to release more details on the future of Blizzard games like Diablo 4. The company’s recent takeover by Microsoft will almost certainly be discussed at the event as well.
Overwatch 2 players will see this crossover play out in-game as well. Le Sserafim-themed hero skins are coming to the game - likely as part of a paid cosmetic bundle - and a custom game mode inspired by the group is also coming. More details on the game mode and skins are coming on October 30, before the content goes live on November 1. Personally, we’d bet anything that D.Va gets a Le Sserafim skin considering she’s the only South Korean hero on the roster. Other heroes like Tracer and Kiriko are likely to get skins themed after the group’s members, but it’d be funny if we got an utterly unexpected skin for Junkrat or Reaper instead.
Overwatch’s general manager Walter Kong said of the crossover:
We’re extremely excited to be working with LE SSERAFIM for our game’s first musical artist collaboration. Like the heroes of Overwatch, the LE SSERAFIM members are amazing as individuals, but unstoppable when they come together.
BlizzCon runs from November 3-4 this year, and ticket holders will have a chance to see the band in person then.
