Twitch streamer xQc is looking to acquire VALORANT’s NA Challengers team Turtle Troop.
Popular Twitch streamer and occasional professional player Félix “xQc” Lengyel is reportedly striking a deal to acquire NA Challengers team Turtle Troops according to journalist Max Katz. He would join the ranks of many content creators, such as Ludwig and Disguised Toast, who have invested in VALORANT esports teams this year alone.
xQc was best known in the esports scene for playing in the Overwatch League with Dallas Fuel before being suspended multiple times for toxic behaviour and finally being let go from the team so he could focus on full-time streaming. He played for Overwatch teams on and off up until 2019, at which point he switched to creating content for other esports organisations while streaming on Twitch. Most recently, he was working with Luminosity Gaming as a content creator.
While this report hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, all signs point to it being true. xQc recently announced during a livestream that he was going to buy a VALORANT team, though he didn’t dive into specifics. Turtle Troop also put up a tweet teasing an impending announcement of some kind, ahead of its 2-0 match against G2 Esports this week in the Challengers league.
Turtle Troop is currently in third place in the Challengers Group A standings with a solid 2-2 score, behind FaZe Clan at 2-1 and G2 Esports at 3-1. Ludwig and MoistCr1TiKaL’s team Moist Moguls dropped to fifth place at 1-2, but the team still has a few more matches left to pick up the pace. Turtle Troop is looking like a strong pick for xQc, should the streamer go ahead with his decision to acquire the team.
The top two teams to come out of the Challengers league will qualify for VALORANT’s Ascension Tournament, where they will compete with other leagues’ teams for a position in VCT Americas. Turtle Troop’s current VALORANT roster is as follows:
