For this Valentine's Day, Overwatch 2 is introducing  Loverwatch, a textual dating sim based on the game's universe.Â
Overwatch has had its share of shippers, porn, and fanfic. In the past, Blizzard was criticized for the content desert with Overwatch prime. So, for Overwatch 2, the developer is making quick work of changing their reputation and also feeding into what the fans seem to want.Â
Cleverly announced as Battle Pass Season 3, Loverwatch is a textual dating sim based in the Overwatch 2 universe.Â
Players will have the chance to try and romance either Mercy or Genji in this browser-based game.
Through a roughly 30-minute text-based story, players can pick between love interests and work on stealing their hearts with the help of Cupid (Hanzo in a new Valentine’s-themed outfit). The dialogue options chosen will determine how successfully you woo your love interest.Â
If players can unlock the secret ending to the dating sim, they’ll be rewarded with an exclusive in-game highlight intro.Â
Â
The developers were very vocal that anything contained within the dating sim was not canon.Â
So although the storyline of Loverwatch is just for fun and doesn’t mean anything in the lore context of Overwatch 2,  the rewards will at least transfer over.Â
The dating sim will run from Feb. 14 to Feb. 28. It will include a four-vs-four mode that revolves around Hanzo as well as support-based challenges. Two Epic skins will be up for grabs along with other cosmetics.Â
The Loverwatch Dating Sim can only be accessed via the web browser at the official Loverwatch website where the entire experience is played.Â
The dating sim can be played in English, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, French, and German.
