It's time for numbers: How good has the year been to the Blizzard franchises and what in store for the future. Data coming from Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime.
The Q3 financial results conference call was held yesterday, November 7, outlining the numerical achievements for World of Warcraft, StarCraft II and Diablo III. Full record of Morhaime's five minutes can be found just below, while said achievements are as follows:
StarCraft II has sold 6 million copies to date
The estimate time for a Heart of the Swarm launch is first half of 2013 (between January and June)
Diablo III has sold 10 million copies since release
Diablo III was the best selling game in units and dollars in both US and Europe
Mists of Pandaria has sold 2.7 million copies in the first week after release
Mists of Pandaria has brought the WoW subscribers base to over 10 million and remains the #1 subscription-based MMO
Mists of Pandaria launched in China just one week later after the world-wide release
Mists of Pandaria and Diablo III were both in the top five of top-selling PC games
Additionally, Morhaime has confirmed a couple of things that are to no surprise to Blizzard's community such as a Diablo III expansion already planned (though without any timeline mentioned) and that hard work is being put into Blizzard All-Stars, the team-based game that is supposedly to launch with Heart of the Swarm.
