The new cards are for the Grimy Goons family of Hunter, Paladin and Warrior.
Buffing cards in hand is underexplored mechanic in Hearthstone and the majority of cards’ effects are tied to decreasing mana costs, such as [card]emperor thaurissan[/card] and the variety of Giants. [card]The Mistcaller[/card] is the most notable card affecting minions in the hand and the deck but that particular Shaman legendary hasn’t seen much play.
With the arrival of Gadgetzan, Blizzard are looking to expand this theme. Three new minions revealed today have a minion-buffing effect on Battlecry, affecting minions in the hand. The theme works with the lore behind the Grimy Goons, which are the bruiser mobsters on the mean streets.
Trogg Beastrager is the first of the three, a 2-mana 3/2 Hunters minion that buffs a random beast in hand with +1/+1. For Rexxar fans, this is an opportunity to drop scarier [card]infested wolf[/card] or more durable [card]stranglethorn tiger[/card]s in the mid-game.
The second is Grimstreet Outfitter, a 2-mana 1/1 for Paladins which looks as an auto-include in all future Aggrodins. On battlecry, the Outfitter gives all minions in the hand a healthy +1/+1, acting as an immediate [card]sword of justice[/card].
The third and final one is Stolen Goods, a Warrior spell giving a random Taunt minion +3/+3. While Warriors do not generally play a lot of Taunt minions, the potential to buff [card]bloodhoof brave[/card] or [card]soggoth the slitherer[/card] is juicy.
