The nation standings leaders suffered defeat at the hands of Azuresky and Aaronkoh, making for one great week for Singapore.
The lat $100 GosuCup SEA went to Singapore's hands. Coming out of period of inactivity, legend player Lucas "Azuresky" Giam took out GosuCup regular Marcon "Quubeeee" Florano 3-0 to make it to win the tournament. Azuresky used to actively compete in SEA Hearthstone tournaments, taking part in some of the older SEA Legends cups, but had to put Hearthstone on pause for his studies. Making it to the GosuCup grand finals sounds like a great return.
While Azuresky's triumph is something he'll doubtless cherish, going to the grand finals probably meant more for Quubeeee. The Filipino has been competing in every GosuCup since the second edition in November but either faced early elimination or came close but not close enough. He was almost denied the dream again as he had to play three-times champion Dustin "WaningMoong" Mangulabnan in the semi finals but the underdog pulled out an unlikely 3-0 against his decorated compatriot to make the weekly finals and guarantee himself a spot in the main event.
In the bronze final, a battle between two GosuCup champions ensued as Aaronkoh took down WaningMoon. Since both of them are already in the grand finals, however, the third seed will go to the highest ranked top 8 player, namely Exclusiveee from Thailand.
GosuCup #15 standings
1. Azuresky - $100 + a spot in the grand finals
2. Quubeeee - 25 Dota 2 keys + a spot in the grand finals
3. Aaronkoh - 10 Dota 2 keys
4. WaningMoon - 5 Dota 2 keys
5-8. Exclusiveee - 5 Dota 2 keys + a spot in the grand finals
5-8. Reptile182 - 5 Dota 2 keys
5-8. Pewpewurface - 5 Dota 2 keys
5-8. NyikNyukNyek - 5 Dota 2 keys
Even after Singapore's strong performance this weekend and Vietnam's week one, the nation standings remain unchanged. The Philippines are still way ahead of the rest (not to mention they score six more points from Quubeeee and WaningMoon) and the points differences strongly suggest that they will not lose the leadership unless Vietnam crushes GosuCup #16 across the board. Singapore might have a chance at squeezing itself in top two, though, as the gap between them and Vietnam is just 10 points.
GosuCup nation standings after week 14
1. Philippines - 77 points
2. Vietnam - 62 points
3. Singapore - 52 points
4. Indonesia - 35 points
5. Malaysia - 25 points
6. Thailand - 19 points
To everyone who still hasn't gotten his seed for the grand finals but really wants to be there: there's one more opportunity and one more seed left. Slack not, register for GosuCup #16. It really is your last chance!
