Ek0p blanks Forsen at Fight Night S5 opener, decklists inside

Jan "Ek0p" Palys broke his losing streak that started during the last Fight Night and continued with SeatStory Cup. The German went 3-0 against Managrind's Forsen in Fight Night Season 5's opening match, giving the early lead to team DogeHouse.

Known for usually playing according to meta's standards, Ek0p did not surprise the viewership one bit and went for his standard Shaman which has made an appearance in various televised tournaments. Less than an hour later, the overall solid mid-range style of said Shaman did miracles for the German and DogeHouse's lead in the series was secured.

Ek0p's Shaman had to fight through Forsen's menagerie of both standard and very unorthodox decks. In game one, the Swede brought a standard Zoo with support cards like Black Knight and Tinkmaster Overspark (the tournament was played pre-Pagle and Tink nerf) but the Warlock ran out of steam fast and Ek0p comfortably took the opening game home.

Game two was a late-game thriller with Forsen pulling out an unorthodox fountain Druid, to say the least. With cards like [card]Wild Growth[/card], [card]Molten Giant[/card] and [card]Mark of the Wild[/card], running double [card]Faceless Manipulator[/card] and [card]Ancient of War[/card] and completely omiting the Foce of Nature/Savage Roar combo, Forsen's aim was to ramp up to all of his late-game threats and win there.

While he did survive till the late game, Forsen was in no good position to tie the score. Ek0p had established the better board position and even though he was low on health, Forsen had no way of dealing with the threats that were in play. All his hopes were placed in a Ragnaros RNG but as that, too, betrayed him, the Swede had to surrender that game as well. Add playing on fatigue and being a battle of two controls and this is easily a must watch match.

Game three could not reach the thrill of the previous match but it was a pleasure to watch nonetheless. Forsen once again decided to try a less standard strategy and bring a [card]Bloodlust[/card] Shaman to the playground but he hit a brick wall for the third time that evening. Enjoying flawless draws from his [card]Nat Pagle[/card], for Ek0p to win this was a piece of cake.
