In 2005, Johansson lost his drive in Warcraft III, retired, and ventured into online poker. In 2007, he returned to Warcraft3 competition in 2007. He returned with SK-Gaming, who he had worked with before.
"I just felt like playing again, nothing big or serious, not yet at least. WE is a great clan with many good players and good manners, so it's a great place to start playing again. I have been playing a bit the past months but just the ladder and now I am very interested to try my skills among the best players in some time!"
In September, 2010 he announced his intention to take StarCraft2 seriously by becoming the first SK-Gaming SC2 sponsored player. In early 2011, they parted ways citing an inability to come to terms due to Johansson's mixed results.Things you might not know:
Highlights Individual Accomplishments- In 2003, Alborz "HeMaN" Haidarian defeated his SK Gaming teammate Fredrik "MaDFroG" Johansson in the finals of the Electronic Sports World Cup. Intel (Korea) selected both players to join their team for WarCraft III in South Korea.
- Johansson's excellent use of gargoyles against the night elf race was one of his most feared abilities in WarCraft3.
- Johansson's 2004 Blizzard Worldwide Invitational title also had the largest prize, $25,000 in WarCraft history.
- Johansson won the tournament without dropping a map, getting revenge for his loss in the Sonokong league versus SeoWoo "ReiGn" Kang in the group stages and defeating the Singaporean Jonathan "duckie" Tan Wei Zhong 3-0 in the grand finals.
- Johansson became the first WarCraftIII player to ever join a Korean pro-team, Sonokong/Frienz. The four core players each held the reputation of being one of the strongest player in their respective race in the world: Fredrik "MaDFroG" Johansson, Hyung-Ju "Check" Lee, Jung-Heon "DayFly" Lee and Se-Ryong "Swain" Park.
- Johansson stayed with his Frienz team in Korea until that June, winning the televised MBC Clan Team Battle finals before a live audience of over 8,000 people.
- Johansson rejoined SK Gaming upon his return to Sweden, finishing runner-up in the 2004 Electronic Sports World Cup losing to ArmaTeam's Dae Hee "FoV" Cho in the grand finals.
- Johansson was featured in the gaming documentary film Beyond the Game.
- Johansson hasn't taken down any major titles in StarCraft2, but he did take second place at the third season's EPS Nordic final, a 5-8th place at Intel Extreme Masters Gamescom in Cologne, Germany, and a 9-16th place at Dreamack Winter.

Johansson's focus these days is StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, where he often plays the European ladders and some tournaments. He played a popular show match against Darius "TheLittleOne" Wunsch from TeamLiquid at the 2010 European Warcraft 3 Invitational losing both matches. He is striving to improve his StarCraft 2 game and hasn't announced a new sponsor as of yet. Johansson also continues to play poker casually and competed in the Goteborg Poker Party 2011 where he cashed for 1,000 SEK by taking 6th in one event.
