Arcane Season 2: 10 easter eggs you may have missed in Act I

Act I of Arcane Season 2 is full of references and hidden details. Which easter eggs did you spot?

One of the best parts of watching a game adaptation is spotting all of its intriguing references to the source material. Arcane, the League of Legends animated series, is no exception.

Act I of Arcane Season 2 just dropped over the weekend, and after closely examining all of its details, we’ve uncovered some exciting references to League of Legends. Here are 10 Easter eggs and more key details you may have missed in Act I of Arcane Season 2.

SPOILER WARNING: Some spoilers from Act I will be discussed. If you haven't watched the first three episodes, please come back to this article later.

Kindred and “The Gray”

In Episode 1, Caitlyn uses the Kiramman key to study the blueprints of the vent system her mother built to help the Zaunites breathe. We see Caitlyn, full of anger after the memorial attack, transform as the Black Wolf overlays her face. The Black Wolf symbolises violent death, representing the darker side of Kindred. Kindred is Runeterra’s Grim Reaper, and a League champion.

Later, in Episode 3, we see this new Caitlyn using the vents to oppress the Zaunites, with Piltover’s enforcers becoming the new monsters suffocating them instead of “The Gray.”

Hextech Rifle and Headshot

Caitlyn’s new weapon, the Hextech Rifle, finally appears in Episode 1 after Jayce upgrades her gear. At the end of the same episode, Caitlyn uses her ultimate ability “Headshot” with her signature weapon.

Chempunk Chainsword and Turbo Chemtank

Two LoL items make an appearance during the attack at the memorial in Episode 1. The chainsaw used by Renni to attack Jayce is actually the Chempunk Chainsword, which boosts AD and Ability Haste. Meanwhile, the Turbo Chemtank, which was created for Arena mode and decommissioned in September 2024, is used by Zaunite terrorists during the same attack.

Janna’s appearance

The LoL champion Janna, known as the goddess of the wind in Runeterra, appears in Episode 2: Watch It All Burn, as Viktor passes by a group of Zaunites worshipping her image painted on the wall. Later, in Episode 3, Jinx talks about Janna in bedtime stories as a saviour of those who cannot breathe. Interestingly, Janna’s image is carved onto the vault that separates Zaun from the toxic fumes, also known as “The Gray.”

Jungle Monsters: Brambleback and Murk Wolves

It was surprising to encounter Jungle monsters in Arcane. We spotted two in Act I: Heimerdinger says “The Brambleback has left the jungle,” while Singed uses Murk Wolves in his experiments. In LoL, the Brambleback (or “red buff”) causes attacks to deal burn and true damage, while Murk Wolf camps are a valuable exp source for Junglers.

Heimerdinger’s Evolution Turret

A kid-friendly version of Heimerdinger’s H-28G Evolution Turret appears in Arcane, shooting bubbles instead of blasts. This could be an early prototype of his signature weapon.

Claggor’s goggles reach Vi

Vi’s original champion design includes goggles that resemble those worn by Claggor, a friend of Jinx and Vi and one of the children under Vander’s care in Season 1, who tragically dies due to Jinx’s actions. Claggor's goggles had been with Jinx throughout Season 1. In Season 2 however, as Caitlyn and Vi raid Jinx’s hideout, Vi finds Claggor’s goggles, picks them up and wears them on her head. This is also the closest we get to Vi's default LoL skin as the Piltover Enforcer, which even includes the pink ruffle over one hip.

Jarvan IV misdirection

Jarvan IV made a cameo in Arcane via a banner multiple times, and even appeared in a few of the trailers. Some LoL fans thought this hinted at Demacia’s involvement, but apparently, it's just a promotional ad in Piltover for a play about the Demacian King’s crowning.

Teemo, because why not?

Of course, Arcane wouldn’t be complete without Teemo Easter eggs. Teemo, one of the cutest (and arguably most annoying) Yordle champions in LoL, appears three times in Act I. Isha, a child, wears Teemo’s hat, Sevika’s slot machine arm displays his Shrooms, and there’s even a huge drawing of him in Jinx’s old hideout at the Arcade.

Sevika’s Slot Machine Arm

Jinx creates a hilariously unpredictable yet effective mechanical arm for Sevika, which includes a slot machine that dispenses powered attacks and occasionally plays a line from her song, “Get Jinxed.”

The icons reference LoL elements: Teemo’s Shrooms, Jayce’s Hammer, Jinx’s Chompers, Poros from Freljord, and even Kennen’s shuriken. Hitting the jackpot triggers Sevika’s new “ultimate” ability, completing a smiling face resembling that of Fishbones, Jinx’s rocket launcher.

There are likely even more references we may have missed, so it’s worth watching the rest of this season closely. Have you spotted other Easter eggs in Arcane Season 2: Act I?
