We’re getting a spiritual successor to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.
Developer Tribute Games has announced Scott Pilgrim EX, a spiritual successor to Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. This beat ‘em up video game follows up on the story of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s graphic novel series Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, with an original story from O’Malley himself.

This week’s Summer Game Fest showcase saw an exciting announcement: Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World is getting a video game continuation in Scott Pilgrim EX, a beat ‘em up video game launching in early 2026. The game is being developed by Tribute Games, which was founded by the original developers of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.
Here’s how the game was described on Steam:
Scott Pilgrim EX is an action-adventure game where players can fight as Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers and more as they battle through the fractured time and space of Toronto. The combat gameplay is driven by instinct and improvisation - a hectic ballet of fists and flair that rewards strategy, spontaneity, and a good bit of brawling chaos. String together stylish combos, experiment with wacky weapons and unleash over-the-top special attacks. Characters can be upgraded with special badges that enhance their stats and grant special bonuses. Players will explore a whole city of interconnected levels to meet old and new faces, complete quests, and discover hidden areas. Multiplayer co-op, local or online, lets up to four players join in on the action, making it a fun, dynamic experience.
The game is set in a similar setting to the original Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World graphic novels, with its premise described as such:
Toronto, 20XX. The city has been taken over by three rival gangs—the VEGANS, the ROBOTS, and the DEMONS. But who’s behind this madness? When Scott Pilgrim’s bandmates are abducted by shadowy forces, a brand-new adventure begins!
By the sound of it, the game appears to be set some time after the events of Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and will not take into account the events of Netflix’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off animated series. Series creator Bryan Lee O’Malley is involved in the game’s story, however, and Amanaguchi is returning to compose its soundtrack. Amanaguchi also scored Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World: The Game.
