Everything announced at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct: Release dates, new games, and more

Nintendo’s one-hour long Nintendo Switch 2 reveal was a massive showcase of game and hardware announcements.

This week, the highly-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 Direct finally went live, showing off the upcoming console in all of its glory. We got a release date, pricing, and more details on the console and its hardware specifications. That’s not all, however – we also got reveals and announcements for next-gen Nintendo games like Mario Kart 9, and more.

Missed out on all the big Nintendo Switch 2 reveals? Don’t worry, we have you covered. Here are all the big reveals and announcements from the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct:

Mario Kart World

Today’s show began with a closer look at the new Mario Kart game, which we got a first look at in the original Nintendo Switch 2 reveal trailer earlier this year. This new trailer showed off plenty of new maps for the iconic racing franchise, along with bovine drivers, various vehicles, and more. In this title, players will race in locations across the world and “drive virtually anywhere” with time of day and weather systems.

There will be 24 drivers per race in the regular mode. A Knockout Tour mode will also allow players to race across multiple courses in a row, with the bottom-most players getting eliminated. In free roam, players can go offroad and simply explore the massive world Nintendo has constructed for this racer – but it’s unclear if an actual campaign is included as well.

Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour

In an Astro’s Playroom-like twist, the Nintendo Switch 2 will come with an introductory game that allows players to explore all of the console’s new hardware and software capabilities. Unlike Astro's Playroom, however, players will need to pay up for this title.

Super Mario Party Jamboree next-gen upgrade

Audio recognition, more expressive rumble, and gameplay that makes use of camera accessories; these are just a few of the next-gen features included in Super Mario Party Jamboree on the Nintendo Switch 2. On the next-gen console, players can play the Metroid game with mouse controls and better graphical options.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World

This re-release of Kirby and the Forgotten Land includes a new story DLC called Star-Crossed World.
