Here's a guide to master Sakeer, the boy who carries the fireflies' light.

Honor of Kings was blessed with another arrival of roamer in the form of Sakeer, the firefly traveller. The boy who carries the fireflies' light uses his companion to heal, damage, and disrupt the enemy, using his strong crowd control ability.

Born in the Firefly Valley, he listened to stories of the outside world. One day, when the stories his ancestors had left behind had all been told, there were no stories left to hear. Inspired to venture out and bring back new stories, Sakeer packed up the ancestral storybook and the wooden sword his father had gifted him to accompany him in the outside world.

Here’s a breakdown of Sakeer's skills, his best equipment and arcana, and tips on how to play him effectively:

Skills breakdown

Passive: Firefly Protection

Sakeer's Basic Attack deals melee damage and summons a firefly that deals (120+24% Magical Attack+ 4% extra Health) magical damage to enemies and exposes them for 3 seconds. Sakeer also periodically restores (60+12% Magical Attack+2% extra Health) Health to a nearby teammate with the lowest Health. When no enemies are nearby, charging his Basic Attack recovers (60+12% Magical Attack+2% extra Health) Health. Charging will interrupt the Health he restores to his teammates.

Skill 1: Mulberry Power

Sakeer channels Luminescence to the target area, dealing (500 to 1,000+10% Magical Attack) magical damage to enemies and launching them for 1 second. Luminescence is spent on hit, dealing (120+24% Magical Attack+4% extra Health) magical damage per stack. If teammates are nearby, Luminescence instead heals the teammate with the lowest Health, restoring (60+12% Magical Attack+2% extra Health) Health per stack.

Luminescence: He gains 1 stack every 1.5 seconds for up to 9 stacks. The skill's range increases with the number of stacks.

Skill 2: Ride The Wind

Sakeer flies to a target brush, gaining 1 stack of Luminescence. He releases 1 firefly whenever he has flown a certain distance. After 1 second, the fireflies fly to the nearest hero with the lowest health. If the hero is an enemy, the fireflies deal (120+24% Magical Attack+4% extra Health) magical damage and expose them for 3 seconds. If the hero is a teammate, they restore (60+12% Magical Attack+2% extra Health) Health.

This skill stocks up to 3 charges. Tap it and Sakeer will fly to the current linked brush.

Ultimate: Firefly Fields

Sakeer summons an Illuminating Brush at the target location. This skill can be used again within 6 seconds to have him fly to the brush and gain a stack of Luminescence.

Illuminating Brush: one second after the brush has been summoned, it releases fireflies at up to 5 nearby heroes every second. Every firefly deals (120+24% Magical Attack+4% extra Health) magical damage to enemies or restores (60+12% Magical Attack+2% extra Health) Health to teammates. Enemies that step into the brush will have their location revealed. After a while, the Illuminating Brush will stop releasing fireflies and turn into a regular brush, lasting 30 seconds.

Arcana

This build uses three Arcana for Sakeer: five Stealth, ten Longevity, ten Void, and ten Fate. These Arcana focus on enhancing his Maximum Health. The bonus Physical Defense, Cooldown Reduction, and Attack Speed give Sakeer a bit of survivability when he needs to dive the enemy to land his crowd control.

Equipment

1. Crimson Shadow - Radiance

The roaming equipment choice of Sakeer. This gem gives him the means to scout enemies in the brush, and a slow that makes it easier to land his Mulberry Power. This gem also provides him with a large amount of Maximum Health plus a damage and cooldown reduction aura for him and his teammates.

Stats:

  • +1,200 Max Health
  • +10% Movement Speed

Active - Mirror Domain

The light wave remains for 2 seconds and exposes heroes in the brush (60 seconds Cooldown. If there are no targets hit, 75% of the Cooldown will be restored).

Wielder does not take a share of the earnings from monster and minion kills, but instead gains a separate 25% to 50% Gold and EXP (maxes out at the 20 minutes mark). If minions die and their Gold is not collected by teammates. 50% of the Gold will drop on the ground. Up to 600 Gold can be picked up.

+25 Mana per 5 seconds.

Passive - Swift

Movement Speed +60.

Passive - Magical Mastery

Grants 100 Magical Pierce.

3. Overlord's Platemail

Sakeer's most important piece of equipment. Overlord's Platemail grants him the extra Health he needs to heal his teammate or deal damage to his foe. Furthermore, Overlord's Platemail also grants him the self-recovery he needs, as he lacks one besides the charging Basic Attack mechanic.

Stats:

  • +100 Physical Defense
  • +50 Magical Defense
  • +1,500 Max Health

Passive - Fated

Increases Health by 4%.

Passive - Recovery

Recovers 0.5% Health every second. Recovery effect is doubled after 3 seconds if not attacked by an enemy hero or tower.

4. Breakthrough Robe

Breakthrough Robe synergises completely with Sakeer's reliance on extra health, as this equipment grants him a significant improvement to his Magical Attack and Magical Pierce based on his extra Health.

Stats:

  • +120 Magical Attack
  • +1,000 Max Health

Passive - Breakthrough

Grants Magical Attack equal to 4% extra Health, up to 100.

Passive - Purge

Grants Magical Pierce equal to 7% extra Health, up to 175.

5. Mask of Agony

Mask of Agony gives him the means to deal even further damage to his enemy, particularly ones with high health, as this item deals percentage Health damage. It also gives Sakeer a slight Max Health boost.

Stats:

  • +120 Magical Attack
  • +5% Cooldown Reduction
  • +800 Max Health

Passive - Torment

When a skill hits a target, deals magical damage equal to 3% of their current Health 4 times over 3 seconds (damage capped at 200 against monsters). Cooldown: 3 seconds.

6. Frozen Breath

This item gives Sakeer a means to control his enemies besides his roaming item and Mulberry Power. Depending on the situation, he can swap the order of this equipment and Mask of Agony. If more control is needed, then Frozen Breath might be taken first, before the mask.

Stats:

  • +160 Magical Attack
  • +5% Cooldown Reduction
  • +600 Max Health

Passive - Deep Freeze

When a skill hits an enemy, reduces the enemy's Movement Speed by 20% for 2 seconds.

Passive - Frostbite

Skills deal 120 to 400 extra magical damage to targets with reduced Movement Speed. Cooldown: 5 Seconds.

Situational: Sage's Sanctuary and Moon Goddess

These are essential situational items for the late game. Sage’s Sanctuary provides a second life, while Moon Goddess is an upgraded version of Splendor to grant him temporal immunity.

How to play Sakeer

Sakeer relies greatly on extra Maximum Health and Cooldown Reduction to function properly. He is strong in all stages of the game and can single-handedly change the complexity of a team fight with one good placement of his Mulberry Power. In the early game, consider playing passively, and deal as much damage as possible while countering every dive attempt from the roamer and jungler.

When you get your roaming equipment completed and level 4, this is Sakeer's moment to play aggressively as Crimson Shadow - Radiance combined with his Mulberry Power can deal massive damage to his foe, especially in the enemy backline. His damage and survivability are increased significantly when he gets Overlord's Platemail, furthering his aggressive playstyle.

In a team fight, drop your brush in the centre of the fight to deal minor damage to the enemy and a slight recovery to his teammates. Try to also look for opportunities to fly to the brush and use his Mulberry Power to deal high damage and crowd control.
