Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 is giving all players an S-Rank Agent for free.
HoyoVerse’s action-RPG gacha game Zenless Zone Zero is releasing its big Version 1.4 update soon, and a new livestream held earlier today has detailed everything fans can expect from its arrival. Namely, the update will feature the hotly-anticipated arrival of Section 6 Agent Hoshimi Miyabi, followed by her colleague Asuba Harumasa. Both S-Rank Agents will headline the game’s Exclusive Signal Search banners, which will run simultaneously throughout the entire update. Harumasa will also be given away for free on day one of his release!
The new update will also add a climactic new story chapter to the game, even more new events, and a few game modes to boot. Before we dig into all of that however, don’t forget to redeem this livestream’s redemption code for a bunch of free Polychromes, Dennies and more:
VOIDHUNTER: 300 Polychromes, 30,000 Dennies, 2 Senior Investigation Logs, 3 W-Engine Energy Modules.

Hoshimi Miyabi is an upcoming S-Rank Agent featured in the first half of Zenless Zone Zero’s 1.4 update. Her slashes deal Frost damage and Icefire damage - providing a new twist on the game’s usual array of Ice Agents. Her EX Special Attack sees her close in on enemies and execute a series of slashes, which can be repeated one more time for additional damage. Miyabi accumulates Fallen Frost to fill a meter while inflicting attacks, or when her allies inflict Disorder on enemies.
Asaba Harumasa is an S-Rank Electric Agent with two weapons: a bow and a sword. His Special Attack allows him to leap up and fire arrows at his enemies. His EX Special Attack will have him throw out traps instead, and players can mix together combos to have him scatter electric traps called Electro Quivers, and trigger them later. Harumasa will also be free at launch, and players will get enough upgrade materials to get him - or any other Agent - all the way up to Level 40.
Additionally, Agent Gulliver is this update’s new Bangboo - a fearsome little creature who fires an adorable little gun that does not-so-adorable damage on enemies. Brawlerboo is another Bangboo coming in this update, throwing out melee attacks at its foes with its fists.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4’s new story chapter
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 adds an important new story chapter, advancing the campaign players have been following since the old days of stopping runaway trains with the Cunning Hares. Much like Version 1.3, this story chapter focuses on Section 6 - but its events will feature all of the factions introduced in-game thus far, with characters from the Sons of Calydon, Belobog Industries, Victoria Housekeeping and more banding together to stop a mysterious threat.
HoyoVerse describes this story chapter as a “climax” to this chapter of Zenless Zone Zero, which is likely why we’re seeing all of these characters come together to cap off the game's launch year. Two new maps will be introduced in this update: Port Elpis and Reverb Arena. A new way to play is also being added on top of the existing TV mode, allowing players to control Eous manually.
Asaba Harumasa will also get an Agent Story that digs into his “deep secret,” which seems to do with a longstanding sickness he’s been nursing since childhood.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4’s new events and modes
Several events are also coming in this update, including:
- Into That Pale Wasteland: Belle and Wise team up with Section 6 to investigate a pale wasteland much bigger than the Hollows they’re used to.
- Hollow Zero - Shadows Lost: More Hollow Zero levels are coming in this update, and players will now have the ability to raise their Agents’ levels to the necessary cap.
- Deadly Assault: This event will see players test their mechanical skills by applying certain effects on enemies to increase their victory rank.
- Bangboo Vs Ethereal: As usual, the Bangboos need help. This time, players will engage in a tower defense-like minigame to save the little ones.
- Where the Stars Shine Bright: This Section 6-themed event will have players assemble support campaigns with their favourite Agents.
- Combat Footage Review: This is a jigsaw puzzle event.
- Collab Designer: Players will help Sybil from HIA with a series of easy-to-complete tasks.
- Data Bounty: Combat Simulation: A double drop event for more resources.
- Advanced Bounty: Routine Cleanup: Another double drop event for more resources.
- Check-in Events: Check in every day to get free Encrypted Master Tapes and Boopons.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.4 gameplay changes and additions
Things are getting easier for new players. Level requirements are going down across the board to make story missions and commissions easier for all players to complete. The coffee shop is also getting a new type of coffee to double the drop of a specific resource, while replenishing 60 Battery Charge.
Decibels are also going to accumulate individually for every Agent, instead of being shared among a squad. That means all Agents will be able to use their ultimate abilities individually, and sometimes in rapid succession. Shiyu Defense is also getting a “Quick Sweep” feature, allowing them to claim rewards and skip tiers if they’ve already picked up an S-Rank from them.
Additionally, players will also get access to a new “Quality Time” invite for their favourite Agents once they reach Trust Level 2, allowing them to hang out with their favourite Agents while doing random activities. Most importantly, you can now team up with your Agents to play Arcade games together!
Players will also be able to explore the entirety of New Eridu as their favourite Agents by switching characters seamlessly. Agents are also getting graphical updates to make their walking animations smoother, and their visual details sharper. You can pre-register for Version 1.4 for extra Polychromes and other in-game goodies and find a recap of this livestream here.
Zenless Zone Zero Version 1.4 will launch on December 18, 2024.
